Pickup from Cusco hotels occurs at 3:00 AM. Transportation proceeds to Soraypampa at 3850 meters (12631 feet) above sea level a campsite on the Salkantay trek. A breakfast is provided at Soraypampa. The hike to Humantay Lake begins from this point. The route offers views of Salkantay and Humantay peaks.
The hike to the lake takes approximately 1.5 hours. The initial portion of the trail is flat for about 20 minutes followed by an ascent to the lake at 4200 meters. Upon arrival time is allocated for photographs and activities. The descent back to Soraypampa takes about 1.5 hours. Lunch is provided at Soraypampa. The return to Cusco is scheduled for arrival around 5:00 PM.
